Services will be held April 1 at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson for Audrey Fay Arnold, 91, of Jefferson.
Tim Heisterkamp will offer words of comfort. Sheilah Pound will be soloist, accompanied by Cheryl Nailor. Honorary bearers will be Bill Figenshaw, John Danielson, Dennis Tiffany and Steve Johnson.
Interment will be at the Scranton Township Cemetery.
Audrey Faye Arnold, age 91, of Jefferson, passed away at home March 23, 2022.
Audrey was born July 24, 1930, in Fergus Falls, MN. She was the fourth daughter of Henry W. and Sena (Bjornstad) Hanson. She graduated from school in Underwood, MN, and attended Tingvold Lutheran Church. She shared many stories of being raised and working on the family farm and helping with the dairy cows.
Audrey married Wynne Carroll Arnold, Jr on Sept. 15, 1956, in Storm Lake. Wynne was a member of the U.S. Navy, which took the couple to the Philippines, Adak, AK, and Winter Harbor, ME. After Wynne’s retirement from the Navy in 1966, they made their home in Maine until moving to Jefferson in 1973.
Audrey was a committed wife, mother and grandmother. Even more, Audrey was a kind, caring, sweet and loving friend and neighbor to many. She was a cook like no other, baking for hours on end. Her greatest pleasure was sharing what she cooked and baked with all. She missed no one’s birthday, sending cards, sharing gifts and frequently baking each a special cake.
After moving to Iowa, Audrey had a backyard garden that grew larger by the year. It was always pristine, with not a weed to be found. The “fruits” of her passion, again, she delivered to family, neighbors and friends. Her many outdoor flowers and plants also flourished.
Her love and caring did not stop with family and friends. She adored and pampered her many pets she had over the years.
As she ascends to rejoin her many family and dear friends that left before her, we’re sure the oven is preheating, and the cooking and parties are just beginning.
She is survived by her daughter Rosanne (Joseph) Paquin of Ramsey, MN; son William (Jessica) Arnold of Jefferson; former son-in-law Steven Johnson of Fairfield; granddaughters Megan (Dillon) Anderson of St. Louis, MO, Stacey Johnson (Gary) of San Antonio, TX, Katie Johnson (Max) of Broomfield, CO, and great-grandchildren Aspen, Kai, and Fallon. Audrey is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband,Wynne “Chick” Arnold; parents Henry and Sena Hanson, Mabel Hanson; and sisters Violet (Joseph) Lazzaro, Harriet (Rick) Rechtermann, and Romayne (Bruce) Harrington.
